1984 -Defense litigation counsel for Bay Area Cities and Contra Costa County in various types of
civil actions including police excessive force/civil rights actions in State and Federal Courts.
1987 - Defense trial counsel for Familian Corporation in a five month long Alameda County
Superior Court action involving complex construction defect and product liability claims
alleging catastrophic failure of many aspects of construction of condominium complex,

1992 - Defense trial counsel for PPG Industries, Inc. in a toxic tort action in Sacramento County
that involved  three plaintiffs who claimed that they suffered permanent lung and immune
system injuries due to exposure to paints and solvents while working at Sacramento’s nuclear

1995 -Setliff v. E.I. DuPont De Nemours & Co.  - (1995) 32 Cal.App.4th 1525 (Third District
Court of Appeal). Defense trial and appellate counsel for DuPont, PPG, Sherwin-Williams, Pratt
& Lambert, and Fuller O’Brien, served as coordinating counsel for a group of almost twenty
corporate defendants and authored our joint appellate brief in a product liability action
alleging personal injuries from exposure to paints and solvents.
1996 - Defense trial counsel for Alta Building Material Co. in two separate trials involving
consolidated groups of plaintiffs who claimed to have suffered injuries due to exposure to

1997- Mercury Casualty Company v. Hertz Corporation - (1997) 59 Cal.App.4th 414 (Second
District Court of Appeal) and  Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company of San Francisco v. Workman’s
Auto Insurance Company - (1997) 58 Cal.App.4th 1543 (First District Court of Appeal).  As
appellate counsel for The Hertz Corporation and Dollar Rent -A-Car, handled separate appeals  
in disputes between representatives of the insurance industry and the car rental industry over
the primacy of insurance coverage under section 11580.9 of the California Insurance Code.
1998 - Defense trial counsel for The Hertz Corporation in a San Francisco County Superior
Court action  involving property damage claims asserted against Hertz by Yellow Cab
Cooperative after an automobile accident between a Hertz rental car and a Yellow Cab.

2002 - Litigation counsel for The Vons Companies (Safeway, Inc.) in a real estate dispute over
its lease of property in a Ventura County shopping center which the owner sought to redevelop
and lease to a Vons competitor.
2002 - Probate counsel for Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. in a dispute over the ownership of
electric guitars played by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.
2003 - Defense Counsel for La Tapatia Norcal, Inc. in a labor and employment action filed
against it in Alameda County under Business & Professions Code Section 17200.
